SUBIC BAY FREEPORT, REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES
MAP was hired to develop the competition program for the long range growth of the former US Naval Base at Subic Bay in the Philippine Islands. The program formed the basis for an international design competition sponsored by The World Bank and the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority to create a phased master plan to convert the central area of the naval base into a commercial center and resort. The long range development of the 420-acre site envisions about 15 million sf of build out for commercial, residential, and public uses. MAP wrote the program, setting forth planning goals, uses and densities, and assisted in the administration of the competition. Invited participants included internationally recognized firms of planners and architects.
