DISA

Over the last two years, MAP has provided professional services to the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), a large US Department of Defense agency. DISA is working to consolidate its fragmented components in the northern Virginia area into a new leased facility. The agency provides secure telecommunications to all branches of the Defense Department. Its headquarters components are scattered throughout the Washington area in about 17 locations, and the consolidation project is intended to bring most of these elements into one leased facility of about 330,000 net usable square feet, housing about 1800 employees. The facility will include extensive special spaces for technologically advanced computer and telecommunications equipment, and is also to include a conference and training center, an employee fitness facility, and parking for about 1,150 cars. DISA's mission requires that special provisions be made to ensure security of its operations.

MAP's participation in this project has been, and continues to be, extensive. Services have included:

  • Project coordination, in order to make certain that DISA's specialized technologically-intensive needs are reflected
  • Development of a Supplemental Attachment of Special Requirements
  • Technical evaluations of the responses to an SFO to assist GSA in its selection of a lessor.
  • Development of a Program of Requirements, developed following extensive detailed interviews of DISA staff and a thorough analysis of DISA's current operations.
  • As design of the new facilities proceeds, MAP assists by monitoring the design process on behalf of the government, providing clarifications and interpretations of the POR, suggestions on the evolving design, and evaluations of alternatives proposed by the lessor.
  • Developing design standards and technical specifications for the furniture procurement phase of the project.

This project demonstrates MAP's ability to provide and to coordinate a broad range of planning and programming services for a large-scale, technologically demanding project, and to respond on schedule.
