Research and Administration Facility at
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, North Carolina

MAP is providing programming and furniture procurement services for the new Environmental Protection Agency office and laboratory facility now under construction at Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. This huge facility of 635,000 net square feet, scheduled for occupancy in the Fall of 2000, will consolidate offices and laboratories now housed in seven leased buildings in the RTP area. Also included in the building will be conference and training facilities, a large cafeteria for staff and visitors, and an extensive technical library. Offices and workstations for about 1,700 persons will be provided, in addition to state-of-the-art laboratories for EPA's Office of Research and Development and its Office of Air and Radiation.

MAP's participation in the project has consisted of the development of a new housing plan for the facility, and assistance in the design and procurement of systems furniture and conventional furniture for workstations, offices, office support spaces, and agency-wide administrative support spaces.

Concurrent with development of the new housing plan, MAP has worked with the agency staff at RTP in the acquisition of furniture for the new offices. Within the limitations of budget and space planning standards, MAP has created a palette of variously configured workstations for agency approval and selection, and has provided designer services in the selection of finishes and fabrics.
