FREDDIE MAC
Illustrating MAP's capability to furnish comprehensive programming services within a compressed time schedule, MAP developed a Program of Requirements for a new building for Freddie MAC, a large financial corporation located in Northern Virginia. Current headquarters of Freddie Mac consists of a three building campus in the Tyson's Corner area of McLean, VA. Additional leased office space is located in the nearby area. Freddie Mac has acquired land across the street from its existing campus, and proposes to build a new office building of approximately 400,000 gross square feet to provide office and office support space for about 1,400 employees, as well as an in-house convention center, a food service facility, and incidental special spaces. There is to be underground parking for about 1,200 cars. MAP was asked to develop a generic Program of Requirements to aid selected A/E firms in developing fee proposals for the design of the base building and for space planning and fit-out of the interiors. To assist Freddie Mac in validating the proposed space use program, MAP prepared an analysis of space use in three recently constructed large corporate-type office buildings, similar in size and use to the proposed new building. The comparison enabled Freddie Mac to verify that the program was consistent with, an appropriate to, current space planning standards and practices in the Washington region.
